Why I founded SoulWick
Founding a company out of thin air and daydreams isn’t easy. I started working on SoulWick right before the pandemic in early 2020. The pandemic put a halt on life. Supplies were difficult to order, people were sick and worried about their families and stress and uncertainty were at all time high. A new founder was not exempt to any of this.
Keeping this little flame called SoulWick alive during the height of Covid, political changes and black people dying on a daily basis was… hard. I gave up. I ate ice cream. I watched comforting tv and wondered why was this all happening to everyone.
Then I remembered that if I am struggling with my mental, physical and emotional health then someone out there was too.
I founded SoulWick to help people with a community, resources and tangible support for wellness goals of all types. I continued working on SoulWick because I believe it is my purpose to create a safe work environment for black women, marginalized people and anyone seeking an authentic environment to share their gifts.
I can’t wait to see my fears melt away and my courage and bravery take center stage while moving this vision forward. And I can’t wait to see what the SoulWick community evolves to be.
Join the SoulWick community and follow our journey.
XO,
Vanessa
