What Candle I'm Using Right Now- POWERPLAY

Change is in the air as we all get through this hot sticky summer. We’re half outside (with masks) and half inside (with sweatpants) binging Netflix. More than likely you’re ready to try new things. I’ve been aligning my energy with welcoming the new. Embracing moving to a new city, starting up a new business, changes in career and taking on new hobbies are all on my list.

When the fear or hesitation sets in, I know I have to call in my confidence. I light up my POWERPLAY candle with notes of spruce, patchouli and lemon to bring up confident feelings and the best vibes for inspiration.

When the flame starts melting the wax and the sparkles in my POWERPLAY candle start to swirl, I take a deep breath and practice:

  1. Listing all the things I love about myself

  2. Traveling through a guided meditation or a quick visualization of me reaching my desired goal

  3. Doing a yoga flow from the SoulWick app

  4. Writing down 3-5 big or small goals I’ve already reached

  5. Checking in with the SoulWick app to do activities and affirmations

I always remind myself that the great thing about confidence is that it can be cultivated with practice. So when it ebbs and flows, just know you can always call it back to you.

How are you cultivating confidence today?

XO,

Vanessa

Why I founded SoulWick

Founding a company out of thin air and daydreams isn’t easy. I started working on SoulWick right before the pandemic in early 2020. The pandemic put a halt on life. Supplies were difficult to order, people were sick and worried about their families and stress and uncertainty were at all time high. A new founder was not exempt to any of this.

Keeping this little flame called SoulWick alive during the height of Covid, political changes and black people dying on a daily basis was… hard. I gave up. I ate ice cream. I watched comforting tv and wondered why was this all happening to everyone.

Then I remembered that if I am struggling with my mental, physical and emotional health then someone out there was too.

I founded SoulWick to help people with a community, resources and tangible support for wellness goals of all types. I continued working on SoulWick because I believe it is my purpose to create a safe work environment for black women, marginalized people and anyone seeking an authentic environment to share their gifts.

I can’t wait to see my fears melt away and my courage and bravery take center stage while moving this vision forward. And I can’t wait to see what the SoulWick community evolves to be.

Join the SoulWick community and follow our journey.

XO,

Vanessa
